RT visits Aleppo hospital after another round of shelling of civilians by US-backed terrorists (GRAPHIC VIDEO) – BY RT

An RT team witnessed harrowing pictures as it visited the hospital in Syria, where wounded and the bodies of victims were taken after the fatal shelling of western Aleppo by the terrorists on Friday.

“Some of the things we saw were heart-wrenching even by Aleppo standards,” RT’s Murad Gazdiev reported from the Syrian city, which remains divided between the government forces and the militants.

“One man, injured by shrapnel himself, was hunkered down, rocking back and forth, clutching his two-year-old son, who had been killed and was wrapped in blankets,” he said.

“We saw four children huddled and crying over the corpse of their mother. There was screaming and shouting in the corridors,” added Gazdiev.

He said the medical facilities in the city were quickly flooded by the victims and the Aleppo University Hospital was so crowded, it was hard for RT’s crew to move about.

“Paramedics rushed the new arrivals to emergency room where they had to wait for the doctors to finish with patients already there,” Gazdiev said.

Six civilians, including a two-year-old child, were killed and 75 were injured in the shelling of the Bustan al-Qasr neighborhood.

“Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria, launched a major attack against the Syrian army just after midnight, in an apparent attempt to link up with Islamists outside the city,” Gazdiev said.

“The walls, the windows, the floor of the hotel where we were staying at, shook for hours and hours” as the terrorists threw everything they had at the Syrian government forces, he added. “There was the unmistakable scream of rocket artillery, mortar round explosions, the much heavier blasts caused by gas canister bombs.”

The militants “used the moratorium on Russian and Syrian combat flights” and attempted to break out of eastern Aleppo, the Chief of Operations at the Russian General Staff, Lieutenant-General Sergey Rudskoy, said Friday.

The attack was carried out with support of 20 tanks and 15 armored personnel carriers (APC) , accompanied by heavy fire from rocket launchers and artillery. The offensive was repelled by the Syrian forces, with the terrorists losing six tanks and five APCs, Rudskoy said.

Comment: Update (Oct. 29): Three were killed and 40 injured today, the second day of the terrorists attack on western Aleppo:

According to Gazdiev, militants and jihadists “have been trying to seemingly blow their way into the city using whatever armaments they have, the heaviest of them actually rockets, missiles, homemade bombs packed with nails. It has been relentless, blanket bombardment of the city and civilians are paying a terrible price.”

As of midday local time, three people died in the militant assaults, while some 40 more were injured. An RT crew visited a hospital in the government-controlled area, which treated those injured in the devastating shelling.

“I was heading back on my bicycle when a shell landed next to me,” a 12-year-old boy who was injured told RT. A young girl said that her father died in the explosion. “That’s it, he is gone! Please save us from them,” she said.

An official at Aleppo’s central hospital told RIA Novosti that a total of at least 15 people were killed and 150 wounded after terrorist shelling of residential areas, presumably in the last day. Over the past three days, the Russian MOD says 43 civilians were killed from 62 mortar and “Helfire” canon attacks, and 96 wounded.

مقتل عشرات الإرهابيين بغارات جوية على مقرات «جيش الفتح» في ريف حماه الشماليHAMA:  The terrorist rodents are trying to get back Sooraan to punish the citizens there who are cheering the Syrian Army’s liberation of their town from the poison of the medieval plague foisted on them by the American-funded rodents of Nusra/Alqaeda.  They have failed miserably and have been forced to redirect their vermin to other, more pressing fronts, like, ahem, Teebat Al-Imaam.

Teebat Al-Imaam:  As I wrote yesterday in my post about the liberation of Sooraan, the army is now at the threshold of Teebat Al-Imaam.  The terrorist rats there are Jund Al-Shaam, Faylaq Al-Shaam and Nusra/Alqaeda.  In the initial battle which was actually a foiling of a terrorist counter-attack to regain Sooraan, the army killed over 50 rodents, their carcasses left behind by their loyal compatriots to rot in the rural soil of this largely agricultural area.  There can be no question that the terrorists have lost hundreds of their most experienced psycho-leaders and are relying on mostly foreign mercenaries brought in recently without much knowledge of the terrain.

The Tiger Force arrayed against the pathetic buffoons defending Teebat Al-Imaam is equipped with the T-90 tanks which are impervious to the U.S. manufactured TOWs.  We predict the liberation of this town in the next 48 hours especially since the SAAF and RuAF are destroying the terrorists’ last fortifications.

In addition to the combat at Teebat Al-Imaam, the SAAF and RuAF are very active preparing the way for the liberation of these towns: Al-Buwaydha, Al-Lataamina, Al-Masaasina, Al-Haysa.  Aerial assessments confirmed the destruction of 3 C&Cs, 5 armored cars and 7 pickups armed with 23mm cannons.

Al-Sa’an Al-Aswad in northern Homs:  Here, the SAAF and SAA combined forces to attack the Ahraar Al-Shaam and Nusra/Alqaeda terrorist groups who woke up this morning to the sound of heavy artillery and rockets pounding their positions.  The artillery was focused on passageways the terrorists use to move in and out of the village.  The army also focused its attention on some fortifications and warehouses used for storing weapons and ammo.  Altogether, the army killed 11 rodents:

I reported yesterday on the failed terrorist attack on Aleppo to the southeast and the west, by Jaysh Al-Fath and ISIS, respectively.  The rodents have announced the names of some of the suicide truck drivers who sailed into the maws of Hades after they were targeted by SAA rangers operating Kornets and Milan rockets:

Serial controversy magnet Brandis has turned A-G office into a joke. Go now! – By Anna Talbot

Anna Talbot 29 October 2016, 7:00am 34

George Brandis is often portrayed as a “slug” by cartoonists, but that seems like an insult to molluscs (Cartoon by John Graham)

Serial controversy magnet, George Brandis, keeps tainting the office of A-G. The Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA), which represents 200,000 Australian lawyers, have called on him to resign. ALA’s Anna Talbot and Greg Barns report.

AS THE fallout from the resignation of Solicitor-General Justin Gleeson continues, what has emerged is that this nation’s first law officer, Attorney-General George Brandis, does not value independent intellectually robust legal advice unless it confirms the political agenda of the government of which he is a part.

It was an overt attempt at political control that led to events culminating in Gleeson’s resignation this week — a Direction issued by the Attorney-General demanding that all requests for advice from the Solicitor-General come through the Attorney’s office.

The dispute has turned into a “he said, he said” debate, with popular opinion uniformly supporting the Solicitor-General. Brandis has said that he consulted Gleeson; that, in fact, the Direction stemmed from a meeting Gleeson requested. Gleeson, in turn, said that the Direction severely curtails the independence of the office of the Solicitor-General; that he was not consulted and had he been consulted he would have objected in the strongest possible terms. Given Brandis’ erratic track record when it comes to the truth, a reasonable person would think that Gleeson’s version of events is to be preferred.

‘Given Brandis’ erratic track record on truth,

a reasonable person would think that

Gleeson’s version of events is to be preferred’

In a highly unusual, perhaps unprecedented, series of events, the legal profession across Australia has been united in its condemnation of the Attorney-General. The Australian Lawyers Alliance has called for Brandis to resign over this matter: he has lost the confidence of the profession.

Tony Kenyon, National President of the ALA, has described Gleeson as

“… a distinguished lawyer, with an unblemished reputation for integrity. The attempt to interfere with his independence, and his resignation, are both unprecedented in the 100 year history of Australia’s Solicitor-General.”

Mr Kenyon identified the real issue involved in the saga:

“There is a compelling public interest in having the Solicitor-General as an independent statutory counsel to government.  A core purpose of the position is to provide frank and fearless advice to government.  Senator Brandis’ actions flagrantly ignore this, and bring discredit on his position as Attorney-General.”

That Senator Brandis and the Turnbull Government think the Solicitor-General should be a political patsy was revealed by Andrew Laming a backbencher telling the media this week that the Direction was issued because Brandis did not trust Gleeson. While Laming did not make it clear where the lack of trust stemmed from, it seems clear that Gleeson’s advice was not always welcomed by the Attorney-General who, despite having the moniker QC after his name, was a run of the mill member of the Queensland Bar before entering politics and who only got the moniker because the then Chief Justice of Queensland was a chum.

The Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs is currently undertaking an inquiry into the closing months of Gleeson’s tenure as Solicitor-General. The documents submitted to the Senate Inquiry and the hearing transcripts reveal a fractious relationship. Evidence submitted by Gleeson strongly support his version of events. Brandis has submitted some of the same documents, although in line with the obsession with secrecy characteristic of the Abbott-Turnbull government, more heavily redacted. Brandis has, for example, redacted notes about concerns raised by Gleeson regarding the failure to consult him on fundamental changes to the law that would strip Australians of their citizenship and marriage equality.

Since these submissions were made, the Shadow Attorney-General, Mark Dreyfus has rightly raised concerns regarding more recent legislation. A bill currently before another parliamentary committee seeks to indefinitely detain people after their sentences have finished. Dreyfus has asked if this Bill has been reviewed by the Solicitor-General. The Attorney has not responded.

If there is ever a demonstration of the need to ensure the Solicitor-General’s office is not turned into a political pawn, this bill provides it.

‘If there is ever a demonstration of the need to

ensure the Solicitor-General’s office is not turned

into a political pawn, this Bill provides it’

The provisions of that Bill are highly legally contentious. It has the potential to dramatically alter the power balance between individuals and the Government, allowing the government to argue that someone should be detained indefinitely on the basis of evidence that the person can never see. While courts would have some oversight of that detention, traditional safeguards would be dramatically circumscribed in the name of national security. There are significant questions as to whether such legislation would be constitutional. The opinion of the Solicitor-General should be of primary importance in proposing such a dramatic shift. The Attorney-General, however, has not provided any assurance that this opinion was sought.

The role of the Solicitor-General is one of the essential pillars of the rule of law in Australia. As an independent statutory office, the Solicitor-General gives the government the advice it needs, even if it is not the advice that it wants. The office-holder is independent of government, similarly to judges, meaning that the priority of the advice provided is the law, not ulterior considerations such as whether the Attorney-General or others in government will like it, or agree with it, or might want to restrain such advice because it is unwelcome. The Solicitor-General is best placed to provide this advice. The office has access to all advices by previous Solicitors-General and access confidential legal advice involving governments across Australia. No other lawyer has access to these sources, so no other lawyer is in a position to provide the same level of advice, regardless of how experienced they might be.

One of Gleeson’s predecessors, Gavan Griffith QC noted in 2001 that

“… there is an unbroken tradition that Solicitors-General render dispassionate and non-political  advice  to  their  governments,  including  those  of  the  contrary  complexion  to  those  under  whom  they  took  office.”

While for many Australians the Brandis-Gleeson battle might seem like a lawyers’ picnic, this dispute has very real impacts on the lives of people subjected to Australian laws. Laws impact on how we live our lives, who we do it with and what the sanctions will be if we choose to live outside of the law. In this way, ensuring that the laws that are passed comply with the foundational Australian law, the Constitution, is essential to allowing us all to live the lives we should be able to live in Australia.

The Constitution is there to ensure that the laws that are passed are legal and will be upheld as valid by the High Court if they are challenged. If the Government introduces laws that contravene the Constitution, this can create significant confusion. People might be detained, deported, denied a passport or citizenship pursuant to laws which are invalid. Even though the laws are illegal, however, they still have serious ramifications until the illegality is revealed. The person unjustly affected would need to challenge those laws through a series of court appearances to correct the misapplication of the law: a daunting, costly and time consuming endeavour. Many would not, or for financial reasons could not, mount such a challenge. Government finances would also be expended defending a law that should never have been passed which, particularly given the economic constraints we are constantly reminded of, is a futile expenditure of government finances.

So, when the Attorney interferes with the Solicitor-General’s independence, it is not just a couple of lawyers arguing as usual. It will have a direct impact on the kinds of laws that will be passed. It will have a direct impact on peoples’ lives. It will have a direct impact on our country and how it moves forward in uncertain times. And it has now had a direct impact on the confidence that the profession has on its highest national officer, the Attorney-General.

GMOs, pesticides & chemicals – don’t trust the Feds – By Ronnie Cummins

© Cartoon of artist Bill Mauldin.
Silent Spring in popular culture

“. . . new chemicals come from our laboratories in an endless stream; almost 500 annually find their way into actual use in the United States alone…500 new chemicals to which the bodies of men and animals are required somehow to adapt each year, chemicals totally outside the limits of biologic experience.” – Rachel Carson, Silent Spring (1962)

Two years after Rachel Carson sounded the above warning, she died of breast cancer. Now 50 years later, the pesticide and chemical assault on our health that Carson exposed in her book, Silent Spring, has intensified. Newer toxic chemicals like Monsanto’s Roundup and Syngenta’s atrazine have taken over where DDT and arsenic left off. Despite massive scientific evidence that these chemicals are poisoning us, U.S. regulatory agencies have avoided or delayed taking action on thousands of deadly chemicals, including Monsanto’s Roundup (active ingredient glyphosate) and Syngenta’s atrazine, the two most heavily sprayed poisons on GMO corn and soybeans, America’s top crops.

The European Union, utilizing the “precautionary principle,” has banned several dozen agricultural pesticides and practices that still pollute U.S. food, food packaging, water, body care, cosmetic, and cleaning products. Still, and despite the fact that the President’s Cancer Panel, in 2010, warned that up to 80 percent of U.S. cancer cases—currently striking 48 percent of men, 38 percent of women, and increasing numbers of children—are directly caused by poisons in our environment and food, by Big Food, pharmaceutical, chemical and genetic engineering corporations, aided and abetted by federal government bureaucrats, are still telling us “don’t worry.”

Don’t worry about the more than 85,000 untested and unlabeled industrial chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, plasticizers, flame retardants, artificial hormones, growth promotors, antibiotics, animal drugs, artificial colors, preservatives, flavors, and genetically modified organisms, in our food and environment.

The “experts” tell us that the thousands of toxic chemicals and animal drugs used in GMO and chemical-intensive agriculture and consumer products are “generally regarded as safe” (GRAS), based on biased industry “safety” studies, scientific fraud, and outdated protocols. Legitimizing industry propaganda, U.S. bureaucrats love to brag that the U.S. not only has the “cheapest,” food you can buy, but also the “safest.”

Don’t worry about the skyrocketing epidemic of obesity, cancer, heart disease, asthma, autism, birth defects, mental illness, immune disorders, antibiotic resistant pathogens, food poisoning, vaccine injuries, reproductive disorders, and behavioral and learning disabilities in the body politic and our children. Shut up and eat your Frankenfoods. Chemical and factory-farmed food is cheaper than organic food. Take your meds. “Trust us, we’re experts.”

“Daily allowable” limits of chemical poisons in our air, water, food, medical drugs, and other consumer products, under the “profit versus risk” assessments of our revolving door bureaucrats (industry to government, government to industry) in Washington D.C. sound a bit worrisome. But when you get sick, Obamacare’s Big Pharma tycoons have a powerful drug or chemo regime just for you, never mind the side effects.

Atrazine: Banned in the EU, but ‘safe’ in the U.S.?

Case in point, Syngenta’s commonly used, gender-bender corn weed killer atrazine, now under, multi-year—likely never ending—review by the EPA. Atrazine has been linked to breast cancer, severe hormone disruption, and birth defects in doses as low as parts per trillion (one of the class of poisons where there is literally no safe dose). Atrazine was banned in the EU in 2004. But under our “profits trump risks” regulatory system atrazine is still routinely sprayed on corn, sugar cane, and other crops as well as golf courses and lawns (along with Monsanto’s poison herbicide Roundup). And it ends up with other poisons such as chemical fertilizer nitrites in the tap water of much of the U.S.

Besides tap water, residues of atrazine (along with Roundup or glyphosate) end up in non-organic sweet corn, and high fructose corn syrup in processed foods and soda, as well as nearly all of our factory farmed meat, dairy and poultry.

But women needn’t worry, according to the Feds. If you get breast cancer from Syngenta’s estrogen supercharger atrazine, you can always go to your cancer specialist and get a prescription for a breast cancer drug, first developed by Novartis (former parent company of Syngenta) that inhibits the estrogen production caused by atrazine. And of course the increased risks of your child being born with a birth defect need to be balanced off against the “risks” of reducing the profits of Big Ag, Syngenta and Monsanto. Don’t you agree?

The USA’s safety and regulatory system for GMOs, pesticides, factory farms and industrial chemicals—a regime that dominates food safety, chemical use, and environmental policy in much of the world—is broken and corrupted. Given the deteriorating state of public health and the environment, the only precautionary strategy for consumers is to avoid or boycott GMO, pesticide- and chemical-tainted products and to purchase and consume organic and truly natural products instead.

Of the 80,000+ industrial chemicals approved for use in food and consumer products, no more than several hundred have been independently safety-tested by the government. And almost none have been tested in the actual formulations or combinations of chemicals in which humans consume them in our food and water. One case in point, Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, whose active ingredient glyphosate has been “tested” in over a thousand industry-funded studies, but never tested using the herbicide’s full formulation, a chemical cocktail far more toxic than glyphosate alone.

Frankenfoods and factory farmaggedon

Since 1962, only a handful of pesticides and industrial chemicals in use have been pulled from the U.S. market.

Over this same period, besides routinely feeding farm animals pesticide- and GMO-tainted feed (residues of which end up in the food we eat), enormous quantities of antibiotics and growth hormones have been injected, implanted or fed to factory-farm animals, giving rise to a growing epidemic of antibiotic resistance, food poisoning, cancer, heart disease, obesity, hormone, behavioral, and reproductive disorders.

In 1992, the U.S. government, at the behest of Monsanto and corporate agribusiness, using the excuse of “sound science” and streamlining government restrictions on industry, declared that Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and their accompanying pesticides, such as Roundup, would be allowed into the U.S. food supply, with no labeling nor special pre-market safety-testing required. The so-called scientific justification for this proclamation was the doctrine of “substantial equivalence,” the industry-promoted but scientifically indefensible theory that patented genetically engineered foods and crops are the same as non-genetically engineered crops, and therefore are inherently safe.

In 1994, the FDA approved the first GMO in our food supply, Monsanto’s recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH), despite consumer opposition, warnings by the Government Accountability Office, and independent scientific studies. Research indicated clearly that injecting rBGH into dairy cows (to force them to give more milk) severely damaged animal health and produced pus- and hormone-laden milk and dairy products that increased human risks for breast, prostate, and colon cancer, specifically by elevating the levels of a potent cancer tumor promoter called IGF-! (Insulin-like Growth Factor number 1) in the blood. Because of these hazards, rBGH has been banned in most of the industrialized countries of the world, including Canada and the EU. Unfortunately, due to the influence of Monsanto, and now the animal drug giant Elanco (a division of Eli Lilly), Bovine Growth Hormone is still being injected into approximately 10 percent of U.S. dairy cows.

No wonder millions of American have turned away from pesticide- and chemically-tainted foods and beverages, to organic foods—which ban the use of toxic pesticides, rBGH, animal drugs, and GMOs—making the combined organic ($43.3 billion) and natural foods industry a $70-billion powerhouse, the fastest growing component (along with grass-fed beef) in the U.S. food system.

No basis for trust

Since the government (and the mass media) keep telling us that GMOs and pesticides and animal drugs are perfectly safe (“proven safe by thousands of studies”), and since regulatory agencies are about to renew the registrations for a number of deadly herbicides, including Monsanto’s Roundup (active ingredient glyphosate), and Syngenta’s atrazine, even as they continue approving new poisons like 2,4D and dicamba-resistant crops, and a full array of new Frankenfoods and animals, perhaps we need to review a few of the fundamental reasons why you shouldn’t believe a word of what they say.]

  1. Government corruption and the “revolving door” between industry and government. In any regulatory system worthy of its name, scientific and toxicological testing of agricultural and industrial chemicals and foods needs to be publicly funded (as opposed to industry funded), independent, transparent and objective. In the U.S. today, none of these criteria are being met. The overwhelming majority of “risk assessments” or so-called “safety studies” of chemicals and pesticides are paid for by industry, carried out behind closed doors by industry-designated scientists and labs. The data and results are invariably biased, and in many cases kept secret using the excuse of business “proprietary information.” This is why deadly chemicals such as PCBs, Agent Orange, DDT, benzene, asbestos, tobacco, formaldehyde, Roundup, atrazine, and dioxin (as well as dangerous pharmaceutical drugs and antibiotics in animal feed) have stayed on the market for decades after literally killing thousands of people. The majority of government officials who “review” these paid-for-by-industry studies either previously worked for the companies or the industry they are supposed to be regulating, or else are looking forward to lucrative jobs once they leave government and go to insidious work in industry. A perfect example of this revolving door is the long-standing relationship between Monsanto and the U.S. government.
  2. Industry- and profit-driven science. In the U.S, as opposed to the EU, “risk assessment” (basing regulations on the relative cost to industry to decide whether to restrict or ban toxic chemicals) trumps the “precautionary principle” (the principle that a chemical or a product ingredient or formulation must first be proven safe before being allowed to be put into a product or released into the environment). Risk assessment underlies the notion that a “little bit” of poison in our food or water or environment won’t hurt us, even though modern science tells us that there are endocrine or hormone disruptors in food and the environment that can give us cancer, make us obese, or cause birth defects at tiny levels (parts per billion or trillion). In fact, common hormone disruptors like Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, or Syngenta’s Atrazine are apparently more toxic and deadly at lower doses than at higher doses.
  3. Over-simplified and outdated scientific procedures. The supposed gold standard for testing pesticides is to isolate the “active” ingredient, (glyphosate, in the case of Monsanto’s top-selling herbicide Roundup), even though numerous independent studies show that the secret, so-called “inert ingredients” or additives in these pesticides often make the pesticides much more poisonous. In addition, most non-organic foods (as well as tap water) contain residues from several different pesticides, GMO, and or chemicals (nitrites from chemical fertilizers in combination with pesticides for example), which again often create a “toxic synergy” that is much more hazardous than the single pesticide or chemical by itself. Testing the toxicity of tap water in the corn belt for example, which invariably contains both Atrazine and nitrites, by testing only one of these poisons in isolation, gives results that are several hundred times lower than testing what humans are actually consuming. If we properly tested tap water we’d have to ban both Atrazine and nitrogen fertilizers.
  4. Fake Science. Typical industry-funded safety studies of pesticides and other chemicals are short-term “acute toxicity” studies that involve injecting rats with increasingly larger doses of an “active ingredient” until they keel over and die, and then using a mathematical formula to deduce an allowable dose on food for humans (whereby much more sensitive infants and children are regarded as no more susceptible than fully-grown adults.) These scientifically fraudulent experiments, in order to save money and obtain the desired results for industry, are typically carried out on a small number of rats, designed to prove that small amounts of the active ingredient in the pesticide (the “allowed daily intake”) are safe for humans to consume. These industry-sponsored studies invariably conclude that these pesticides are “safe.” But in order to meet the criteria of the precautionary principle, or sound science, these studies (using, not an acute dose, but rather the average dosage that humans actually consume each day) would have to be carried out on a sufficient number of rats, over a sufficient period of time to find the impact of the full formulation as well as of the active ingredient on rat fetuses in the womb, baby rats, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Rats live approximately 3 years, roughly corresponding to 75 years for a human. A 30-, 60- or 90-day study of an isolated “active ingredient” will tell you very little about the cumulative impact of ingesting a pesticide like Monsanto’s Roundup over a human lifetime. For example, most malignant cancers in humans proliferate at age 65 or older. Dissecting the vital organs of a rat under the age of three years is not going to tell you whether this pesticide is like to give you cancer or not.
  5. Ignoring the precautionary principle. Independent scientists (unfortunately a dwindling breed) are quite capable of determining whether or not a pesticide or a synthetic chemical is dangerous, given sufficient resources and the freedom to pursue sound scientific studies. However, industry does not want to spend the money required to prove whether their products and formulations are truly safe or not—in part because they know, either consciously or unconsciously, that many or most of their most profitable products (unless they are organic or truly natural) and formulations are hazardous. So we and our children, and the living environment, end up being the real lab rats. No wonder public health and the environment are deteriorating and degenerating. No wonder health care costs are spiraling out of control. No wonder we have a cancer epidemic, an obesity epidemic, an epidemic of heart disease, asthma, as well as reproductive, hormonal, immune system and behavioral disorders. It’s time to take back control of our food system, our health, our government and regulatory agencies. If the government won’t allow proper labeling and safety-testing of foods, then we, the global grassroots, need to investigate, expose and boycott toxic products and chemicals. If industry and the government won’t fund “sound science,” then we will need to crowdsource and fund independent, sound science ourselves. In the meantime, we need to defend ourselves and our families, especially the children and most vulnerable, by buying organic and truly natural foods and products, today and every day. Grow your own. Build up local food hubs and community capacity. Support economic justice campaigns so that poor and minority communities can afford and gain access to organic foods. Reach out to others and get organized. Don’t just mourn or complain, Resist and Regenerate.

الجيش السوري يستعيد السيطرة على بلدة صوران بريف حماة الشمالي As I told my readers 2 days ago, the SAA was storming Sooraan.  Yesterday, it was liberated completely by the Tiger Forces.

Mechanized armored units stormed the southern and eastern defenses of the town last night using night-vision equipment which enabled the army to roll over all fortifications crushing scores of screaming rodents under their metal treads.  Wael tells me that the majority of the rats were foreigners who could be heard screaming in their own language as infantrymen from the Republican Guard had it at them with bayonets skewering them through their drug-infested pelts.  All farms around the town were also freed of the rodent plague of Wahhabism.  I have been told, also, that the Russian Air Force played a major role here by attacking rodent groups who were preparing to give assistance at the southern and eastern sides of the town.  They never made it.

American-made weapons provided by the Turks and bought by the craven Saudi monkeys were seized or destroyed.  9 pickup trucks were demolished with their crews flying in the explosions like flies on a flicked apricot pit.  The army also blew up 2 armored cars and dry-roasted 4 of the Jaysh Al-Fath commanders in a Toyota 4-wheel drive truck.  Their names have not been disclosed.

The army has not stopped moving.  Next door, in sleepy Teebat Al-Imaam, the army is about to suffocate the starving rats inside before moving in to exterminate them.  In the meantime, the RuAF is flying over Idlib to insure no reinforcements can arrive to help the doomed rodents.  They have struck hard at terrorist positions belonging to Jaysh Al-Fath at Khaan Shaykhoon, Sarja, Ma’arrat-Massreen, Al-Baara, Heesh.

The SAAF has also struck hard at the following areas:  Teebat Al-Imaam, Al-Mawrik (Mork), Al-Lataamina, Al-Masaasina.

SAA engineers are dismantling a network of IEDs and mines as I write.

Well, it was not a good day for suicide truck drivers.  Oh, what I mean, is that it was not a good day in the sense that they couldn’t make it to their target.  But, as a consolation prize, the SAA was happy to send them straight to Hell.  Sure, they were dreaming of all those prostitutes their Devil-God was going to provide to them in an earthly paradise reminiscent of Club Med.  However, I just don’t think they got that far.

Yesterday, the boring rodents announced their new campaign to lift the siege on Aleppo.  Yeah, sure.  Amazingly, this campaign involved a 2 pronged assault, the first led by Jabhat Al-Nusra to the southwest and ISIS to the southeast.  Both assaults were stymied by incompetent suicide drivers who kept barreling forward despite the obvious presence of Kornet rocket operators who turned their vehicles into flaming sarcophagi.   In all, 6 trucks conveyed their drivers into the void.

The Nusra/Alqaeda attack centered on the Air Force College but was repelled efficiently by very experienced SAA infantrymen with the help of the Russian Air Force and SAAF flying Hind helicopters.  Don’t believe anything you hear about “advances” by the rodents.  Didn’t happen, period.

The number of rodents deaths exceeds 150 based on spotters’ estimates.  The area is still too dangerous for precise assessment.

Day to Day Politics: Brandis is a control freak. – By John Lord

Thursday 27 October 2016

Power in the hands of people with chastisement in their hearts, authority on their minds, and control in their doing, do little for democracy. Control freaks usually cannot see beyond their own self-importance and are hostile to those who might threaten it.

Such a person is George Brandis, who sees the world through the prism of dominance, of muscle, privilege and rule. Through the possession and ownership of the dissemination of information and who has the right to peruse it.

Through his desire to control the Solicitor General, he has in effect destroyed yet another vestige of our parliamentary democracy. The statutory-defined independence of the Office of the Solicitor General is now forever tainted.

The only person willing to take on the vacant position will be perceived, rightly or wrongly, as a lackey of the right. A “yes” man or women.

Who would take on the position in the knowledge that it is not independent? That the Attorney General alone would decide on what you can and cannot give meaningful advice on.

One could argue that the office of Solicitor General is now redundant.

And of course any decision you arrived at would be seen to have had the Attorney Generals endorsement otherwise your job would be on the line.

From the beginning this unedifying event between Solicitor-General Justin Gleeson, SC, the government’s chief lawyer and Attorney-General George Brandis has been about one man controlling what the other can say what he can give independent advice on.

If Brandis decided that Gleeson was likely to give advice contrary to his Governments view then he wouldn’t allow it.

It seems when you look at it the only advice this Government wants is advice that of concurrence.

Labor’s Joel Fitzgibbon put it this way:

”It is pretty clear these days anyone who disagrees with this government, any professional public servant who gives frank and fair advice to this government, faces termination”.

”Once upon a time, misleading the house was considered a serious offence. When it ceases to become a serious offence, then our democracy and our parliamentary system is undermined”.

On Tuesday the Prime Minister said:

”We value immensely the very frank advice we get from the Australian Public Service.”

He must have been kidding of course.

Just ask Gillian Trigg’s, Justin Gleeson, Martin Parkinson, Don Russell, Blair Comely, Paul Grimes, Andrew Metcalfe, Paul Barret and many other public servants.

It’s a sad state of affairs when all you want to hear from a public servant is the reverberation of your own thoughts.

An observation.

”No one group should think they have an ownership of righteousness, or ideas for that matter”.

Last year Turnbull said:

”What we have to do in government in my view is stop panning public servants and do more to ensure that they do their job better”.

What he really meant was that public servants will now tell the minister what the minister wants to hear, rather than what they need to hear.

The seriousness of what control freak George Brandis wants to do cannot be underestimated. The community must have confidence in our legal system. Brandis is intent on destroying it for the sake of personal control.

He has also damaged the public service in so much as those highly qualified candidates wanting to work in the public service will now have second thoughts.

Lastly, as a well-recognised and highly successful lawyer the Prime Minister is complicit because he should know better that to allow this law. He should have sacked the Attorney General.

My thought for the day.

“We all have to make important decisions in our lives. None more important than the rejection of those things that tempt us into being somebody we are not. Be true to who you are”.

حلفاء سوريا أي تقدم تركي باتجاه حلب سيمثل تجاوزا للخطوط الحمراءDAMASCUS:

The terrorist groups fighting relentlessly in the East and West Ghouta have lost so many of their experienced commanders that you can simply tell by the unprofessional manner of their communications.  In Doumaa, at the edge of Jisreen Farms and Al-Muhammad Farms, the SAA is pounding withering positions every hour of every day and monitoring the rodents communications.  The terrorists now openly contact Saudi Arabian cockroaches in Jordan for instructions which, inevitably, result in their holding positions despite the imminent collapse of all defenses here.   The SAAF is not letting up either as Sukhoi bombers and Hind helicopters saturation-bomb the area to insure the rodents don’t try to use the few bulldozers they have to build up more fortifications and trenches.  All tunnels to this area have been discovered and destroyed.  This is a military catastrophe waiting to happen.

Al-Reehaan and Tal Kurdi Axis:  SAA continues building up forces while shattering the rodents’ nerves with non-stop artillery fire.  Rats here are not shy about telling their commanders they want to move to Doumaa which, according to them, has better defense lines.  Unfortunately for these wretches, those defense lines have been largely vaporized.  They are moving from the frying pan into the fire.  استجاروا من الرمضاء بالنار

The people of Jaramaanaa, a suburb of the capital populated by mostly Christians and Druze,  have been relaxing more now that the terrorist rodents are more concerned with their own skins as the SAA pushes them farther and farther away from the desired battle zones.  If anyone has any dreams left of entering Damascus, those dreams are now only in the world of metaphysics.

Yusha Yuseef sent this video of dead rodents at Khaan Al-Shaykh:

ALEPPO:  Jaysh Al-Fath is holding on to its positions perilously and doggedly knowing that a major confrontation is building up between Turk forces and those of the SAA, PKK and HZB.  Their hope is to exploit any new crisis which might force the SAA to move crucial artillery and armor to another front near the town of Al-Baab.  We are certain of this because their chatter revolves around how long they can hold out before the expected big push.

Al-Raashideen Quarter is still being bombarded day and night by the SAAF at Districts 1, 4 and 5.  The rat situation is hopeless.  Like Daarayyaa, in Damascus, they are holed up in buildings where their snipes continually harass our army to slow it down.  In truth, this area is not crucial militarily, but, a great deal of pressure is being applied to get the army to clear the rodents out.  This pressure is from wealthy Aleppans who have financial interests in the area.

The Syrian Air Force is blasting Jaysh Al-Fath and Nusra/Alqaeda positions all over north and south Aleppo Province, particularly at Abu Shaylam, Qubtaan Al-Jabal, Khaan Toomaan, and Lesser Al-Awram to its east.  Yesterday, in these areas, the SAAF destroyed 2 T-62 tanks and 11 motorized troop transport vehicles belonging to both ISIS and Jaysh Al-Fath.

The Syrian Army has liberated Al-Madaajin (hatcheries), Al-Burj, Dhahrat Al-Fatis, Tallat Khirbat Kaheela – all west of Ma’aan which the SAA is now storming.  In the process of liberating these villages, the SAA confirms the destruction of a 23mm cannon; seizing a mortar intact and confiscating 30 kilograms of C-4 and boxes of military grade TNT.  The SAA also identified a leader of Alwiyat Al-Shaam among the dead rodents:

“Shuraykhaan” (Id pending)

‘Irfaan Sabri Al-Shatti

Muhammad ‘Ubayd

Zakariyyaa Mahmoud Tamari

The rest of the 19 were all foreigners.

Sooraan:  The big battle is on.  The SAAF is focusing on terrorist infrastructure and supplies.  Yesterday and today, the SAAF has successfully destroyed several mortars and missile launch pads, 6 armored cars all belonging to an oleo of murdering jackals:  Nusra/Alqaeda, Harakat Ahraar Al-Shaam Al-Islamiyya, Jund Al-Aqsaa, Jaysh Al-Nassr, Tajammu’ Al-‘Izza.  These groups are fighting for their lives, but, very poorly according to my source.  They do not coordinate well.  We can confirm the death of a rodent leader here of Tajammu’ Al-‘Izza:

Muhammad Al-Ashtar

The SAAF is continuing to pound terrorist positions at Al-Lataamina, Ma’aan Area, Tal Bizaam, Teebat Al-Imaam, Kafr Zaytaa.  We can confirm the death of a Nusra/Alqaeda leader here:

Mahdi Al-‘Aabid

The air force also reported annihilating 4 armored cars and a pickup with a 23mm cannon.

AL-QALAMOON: Syrian Security Services seized a large supply of arms destined for rodents in the Damascus area.  The cache was hidden in the side compartments of  a tourist van and a pickup truck.  The ammo was 14.5 mm and 23mm for use in cannons mounted usually on pickup trucks.  The 2 rodents driving the vehicles were penitent and claimed they were trying to support their families.  They were turned over for prosecution to the military authorities.

Ma’arrat-Massreen:  9 kms north of Idlib City, the SAAF struck terrorist mortar launchers, pickups with 23mm cannons, and killed and wounded an estimated 24 rodents.  The terrorists here regularly bombard the civilians of Al-Faw’ah and Kafarayyaa.

Day to Day Politics: A Government in a shambolic mess. – By John Lord

Wednesday 26 October 2016

1 Polls this far out from an election are never an indication of how people might vote. They do however, give us a guide to how people think they are being governed.

So yesterday’s NewsPoll tells us that the folk in the great Australian suburbia are disillusioned.

The Poll Bludger tells us that Labor leads the Coalition 52/48. Essential is the same.

The Prime Ministers popularity continues to tumble in the absence of any semblance of leadership. We are being led by a leader who is captive to the right of his party and the junior party of the Coalition whose leader seems to be pulling the strings. Ideologically speaking the so-called Liberal party has no idea where it stands and Turnbull cannot produce a narrative that explains just where we are heading as a nation.

2 Our Democracy is being usurped by the likes of Brandis. Freedom of Information is being hijacked by ultra-right wing power-hungry MPs and the Solicitor General’s Office, with the resignation of Justin Gleeson, has been turned into a branch of the Liberal Party. The position will now go to a Liberal Party stooge who will accept the pay the position demands and never question the Attorney General’s judgements.

Jim Moylan writing for this blog summed it up like this:

”The Gleeson Affair is as significant as the Dismissal. Perhaps more so”.

”Why am I so upset? In simple terms Mr Brandis has now turned the Solicitor-Generals Office into an office of the Government. At the heart of this matter is a despicable and almost treasonous direction from the Attorney-General’s office that any matter that the Solicitor-General might consider, from now on, has to be first cleared personally by Mr. Brandis”.

3 Barnaby Joyce’s integrity is once again being questioned over the sacking of Paul Grimes, the former head of the Agriculture Department.

A March 2015 letter has surfaced that clearly brings into question his conduct. Explosively so. Apparently the Government has spent a lot of money keeping it from the public’s eye.

It all started over the alleged changing of Joyce’s statements in Hansard.

The question arises: “Did Barnaby Joyce sack Paul Grimes to save himself?”

If Joyce is guilty of deliberately trying to change Hansard then of course he should be sacked and resign his position as leader of the Nationals.

4 The MYEFO Economic report due to be released in November will reveal that the Budget is still in a mess.

5 Tristian Ewins manages the ALP Socialist Left Forums Facebook page and is a regular letter writer to Main Stream Media. Here are a couple to Melbourne’s Herald Sun. The newspaper where the truth goes to die.

Refuting the Herald-Sun Again on ‘Welfare Shaming’:

”The Herald-Sun (16/10/16) reports that welfare-dependency figures are “shocking”.  But Disability pensioners, Carers and the Unemployed should not be ‘shamed’.  Carers save the public hundreds of millions of dollars by providing care and support for pittance that otherwise would cost the state a fortune. If we do not value their work just because it is not part of the ”market sector” then that itself says something disturbing about our priorities.  Meanwhile those with a mental illness – who are commonly looked upon as ‘not-really-disabled’ can expect a reduced life-expectancy of 16 years”.

”Or 25 years for those with Schizophrenia. Who would ‘choose’ to be in that position?  Finally, research shows there are roughly five job-seekers for every position.  Were the government serious it would develop an industry policy to create real long-term jobs – matched to people’s skills. (as some Nordic countries have tried)  Instead it tolerates an unemployment rate of around 6 per cent (much more if you include those who have given up the search), and also ‘massive under-employment’ for people looking for full-time, secure work.  Because ”Ideologically” it cannot bring itself to support ‘economic intervention”.

Refuting the Herald-Sun Again: Misleading Characterisations on the Unemployed:

”The Herald-Sun (19/10/16) proclaims on its front page:“70% of arrested meth users supported by your taxes” and also: “Dole Blown on Ice.”  While the apparent connection between Ice addiction and crime is alarming, the headline was irresponsible for several reasons. Firstly, for those who don’t read the article thoroughly there may be the utterly false assumption that most Newstart recipients are ice addicts. In fact there is no proof of anything like this.  .Secondly: ice addicts need help overcoming their addiction. Yes there must be compulsory rehabilitation programs. But a purely punitive approach could lead to a downward spiral of desperation and crime.  It seems more than an accident that the headline coincides  with the Liberal Government’s attempt to wind back benefits such as Newstart, the Disability Support Pension, the Carers’ Allowance, and so on.  To ‘make room’ in the Budget to accommodate corporate tax cuts.  And hence to demonise and vilify these people”.

6 The Coal Lovers are at it again. It seems that those who oppose the Carmichael mine have received funding from a US organisation with links to John Podesta who happens to be running Hillary Clintons election campaign and the Libs are not happy. Nor is India’s Power Minister Piyush Goyal.

So Turnbull might just revive some previous legislation that was aimed at curbing vexatious litigation by environmental groups.

On Tuesday he said:

”Coal is going to be an important part of our energy mix, there is no question about that, for many, many, many decades to come, on any view”.

A few years ago he would never have contemplated those words.

7 Among many other things the fast talking Treasurer Scott Morrison said:

The government will therefore also be discussing with the states the potential to remove residential land use planning regulations that unnecessarily impede housing supply and are not in the broader public interest. This will be the strong focus of my discussions at the next Council on Federal Financial Relations that I will convene in early December”.

Of course these are not the only problems the housing industry faces. Government also plays its part and there’s no sense blaming others when your own policy tax policy distorts the market because it produces increased inequality via wealth acquisition.

In other words negative gearing.

And to show just how badly the Government is governing they have allowed an enquiry initiated by Joe Hockey into housing to lapse.

7 Said the Prime Minister on Tuesday:

”The important thing for me, as prime minister, and for my government, is to get on with the job of governing and delivering, and that is what we’re doing”.

”We are delivering, we are governing, we are delivering the jobs and growth that we promised, and we will continue to do so”.

That of course is highly debatable.

My thought for the day.

”The study of free will is an important foundation of rational thinking and objective application of thoughts to actions. How many seriously take up the study of free will and the constraints of pre-determined facts that limit free will, and personal action?”

Zionism Exposed: Delving into an Occult, Global Cabal – VIDEO – By Ariyana Love

25 October 2016

By Ariyana Love
Professor Alexander Azadgan and TLB Director, Ariyana Love, explore the occult roots of the most evil ideology on Earth today.
Understanding Zionism is fundamental to understanding the elitist global agenda. It’s also fundamental to understanding the highly criminal and barbaric military occupation of Palestine.
Professor Azadgan is a globally acclaimed specialist and advisor on Middle Eastern Affairs. He is the Editor in Chief of Middle East Rising (MER).
In a series of discussions, we will begin to explore Zionism and its roots, so we can expose the occupation of Palestine and unravel the global, tyrannical agenda we are born into and enslaved by, from cradle to grave.
We start with the evil roots of Zionism.
